S.Sadananda Chatra was born on 23 rd April 1956 at Hallihole of Kundapura Taluk. He has graduated from Bhandarkars' College, Kundapura. He is Cofounder of leading transport company Durgamba Motors. He is the Vice President of the Canara Bus Owners Association Udupi-Mangalore and working Committee member of Karnataka State Bus owners' Federation, Bangalore. He was the Secretary of the Karnataka State All India Tourist bus operators Assocation, Bangalore for the year 2002-2003. He is the Managing Committee Member of the Kundapura Sports Club and the Executive Committee Member of the Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He has joined Rotary Club of Kundapura South in the year 1988 and became its President in the year 1996-97. During his Presidentship the club has organized the Rotaract Club, Probus Club, and The Inner Wheel Club. He has held various positions in the District like GGR, Assistant Governor, DRCC and District Secretary.

He was responsible for various projects in and around Kundapura like renovation of Kala Mandir, providing equipments to childrens park, Chaitanya Special School and also safe drinking water projects to many schools.

Rtn.Chatra is married to Jayashree and the couple is blessed with two daughters, Namitha studying Medicine and Anusha studying in High School. His hobbies are playing shuttle badminton and reading.
